Avoid Plumbing Issues During the Holidays
The last thing anyone wants during the holiday season is to have plumbing issues. Can you imagine welcoming people to your home with a plumbing leak or a sewage leak? That is not something to get into the holiday spirit about. If you want to avoid plumbing issues during the holidays, here is some information you need to know.
Staying Ahead of Plumbing Issues
Your first step to avoiding plumbing issues is to understand what goes down the garbage disposal, and what you don’t need to put down there. For example, grease and oil do not need to go down your garbage disposal. That’s because cold water and cold weather combine to solidify the grease and oil in your disposal, which prevents it from working. Make sure you and your relatives don’t put grease or oils down the disposal, so you don’t have backups during Christmas dinner.
Second, you’ll want to check and recheck your toilets, especially if you have small children visiting you. Small children love to put anything down a toilet. We have seen towels, cars, stuffed animals, crayons, and even plastic containers stuffed into toilets. You may want to make a rule that no small children go into the bathroom without an adult.
Finally, be sure there is a plunger in each bathroom. No one wants to come to you in the middle of the family holiday and admit they have stopped up your toilet. If you put a plunger in each of your bathrooms, your guests will be able to handle their own emergencies.
